- It addresses issue related to the role of plastic in Environment, Conservation, Natural Resources Renewal and protection of the Environment through Recycling of Plastic.
- It conducts awareness programs and workshops on continuous basis for Solid Waste Management, about correct use of Plastic and changing the littering habits of people.
- Over 200,000 Students from various Schools & Colleges, Teachers & Principles have been covered through awareness programs and it is been done on continual basis.
- The new Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016, have been announced by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Govt. of India. PLASTINDIA FOUNDATION'S Environment Committee will work with all Stake Holders for correct Plastic Waste Management.
- Initiated Plastic Waste Management Programs with various Municipal Corporations and councils of Solapur, Satara, Kolhapur, Pimpri - Chinchwad, Vellore, Ranipath, Madurai, Ahmedabad, Jaisalmer.
- Currently working with Solapur University, to make is a Swachh University.
- Working with Gram Panchayats of various Villages, with NGOs and Rotary Clubs for Plastic Waste issues.
The aim of this initiative is to improve the image of plastics through various activities. Plastics have been most abused in Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) stream where due to lack of awareness as well as segregation & Littering it has been visible everywhere, though the content in the MSW is lower than 10%. The basic thoughts as under to take up this activity:
- Segregation at Source
- Separate containers for WET & DRY Wastes
- Disciplined Collection & Disposal
- Incentive mechanism
- Involvement of all stake Holders and defining responsibility
- Awareness programmes through road shows, Seminars and media Involvement
