In order to ensure development of the Plastics industry globally and also to optimize economical and industrial growth of the country, it is essential that latest machinery and production practices are adopted in India, to remain competitive in the global market and avail of the infinite opportunities presently available for growth – both in the domestic market and for exports of processed plastics products.

The Human Resource being employed in the industry has exposure to latest technology, production processes and management practices as part of their education and training.

The Vision of Plastindia International University is to provide World Class Education and give well groomed, well trained, culturally sensitive technical Human Resource to the Plastics, Polymer and allied industries by integrating Technology and Management Courses.

To fulfill our Vision of establishing a World Class University dedicated to the Plastics & Polymer Industry,

Set up a dual mode multi-faculty Technical University specializing in Plastics Technology & Polymer Sciences

Establish World Class Research and Development Centre in Plastics Technology & Polymer Sciences

Promote Process Design, Testing and Innovation in Plastics Technology & Polymer Sciences.

Establish a World Class University for Higher & Continuing Education with special focus on periodical upgradation of Technology and Curricula.

To conduct continuing education programs to ensure that the industry is updated on latest technology and production practices.

Provide Skilled Human Resources to the Plastics & Polymer Industry.

To associate with International Universities to ensure Academics meet International Standards.

Location

The University campus is ideally located. 60% of the existing plastics and polymer companies are located in Western India, of which major clusters are in and around the State of Gujarat viz. Umargaon, Sarigaon, Vapi, Silvasa, Daman etc.

There is good mix of different sectors of the Plastics Industry in this belt – Daman and Silvasa are concentrated with packaging units, Umargaon, Sarigaon and Vapi.

Vapi is also close to Mumbai which is another hub for the Downstream Plastic Industry and is easily accessible by road from Mumbai.

Last but not least, the Government of Gujarat is proactive to the development of industry and Education and therefore, it will facilitate the World Class University proposed not just to keep up with times, but to be ahead of times.

Plastindia Foundation has great pleasure in announcing that Plastindia International University (PIU) at VAPI which was under wrap, is now moving forward.

A committee of members has been formed comprising of one representative each of Founder Members and Past Presidents as advisors, which is actively working. The new team of office bearers led by Shri K.K. Seksaria as President, Shri Rajiv Raval as Vice President and Shri Raju Desai as Treasurer are actively supporting the noble cause, which is envisaged.

The Project Report of the PIU is ready and discussed thoroughly with the help of Shri Achal Thakkar, Co-Chairman of Empowerment Committee and other professionals.

Again the relationship with Lowell University Massachusetts has been put on high priority. Full team is under one voice and supporting the cause of establishment of PIU to go forward. The Project Report includes the financial outflows and inflows

PIU proposes to offer 3 streams i.e. Plastics, Mechanical & Chemical Engineering

Bachelor’s Degree – B.Tech, Master’s Degree – M.Tech, Doctorate programme – PhD, Management of Technology, Continuing Education Programme CEP, Management Development programme. One of the best Architects in Ahmedabad, M/s HCP Design, Planning & Management Pvt. Ltd. who are famous for making Sabarmati River Front & Petrochemical University (PDPU) in Ahmedabad, have been assigned the work of designing and layout of PIU.

The size of our Plastics & Polymer industry is over Rs 1 Lac crore (14.8 Billion USD). Out of this Processing & Petrochemical accounts for Rs 55000 crores ( 8.14 Billion USD). This project of establishment of PIU will help the exponential growth of Plastics Industry and thus PIU will be a project of the Industry, for the Industry and by the Industry.
